Warmth, and what happens without it. Hedgehogs need a consistently warm enclosure; if they get too cold they attempt to hibernate, which for a pet hedgehog is dangerous rather than natural. It is a silent problem — a sluggish, wobbly hedgehog looks sleepy rather than ill — and it is the most common serious mistake new keepers make. Heat the enclosure properly and check it.
Who a hedgehog suits — and who it does not
