Every quiz is multiple choice and every question is scored the moment you answer, so you are never left guessing what you got right. The part that matters is what comes after the tap: each answer carries a short explanation of why it is the right one. A question you get wrong is the one you remember, which is the whole reason the explanation is there rather than a bare tick or cross.
The questions are drawn from the same care research as the 50 pet guides on this site — how big an animal really gets, what it eats, how long it lives, what it does at night. So a good score on the hamster quiz is not trivia for its own sake. It is most of what you would need to know before looking after one.
Pets and wild animals are kept apart on purpose
50 of these quizzes are about animals people genuinely keep, and each one links straight to that animal's full care guide if the questions leave you curious. The other 25 are wild animals — lions, orcas, pandas, komodo dragons — and they are labelled Cool Animals (Not Pets) for a reason. They are here because they are astonishing, not because anyone should try to keep one.
If you have not settled on an animal at all yet, this is the wrong page for that and the right one is one click away. The pet quiz asks about your space, your time, your budget and who does the caring, and matches you to one of 50 pets. Come back here once you know which animal you are curious about.
Questions about the animal quizzes
What is the difference between this and the pet quiz?
They answer opposite questions. The pet quiz asks about your home, your time and your budget and matches you to an animal you might keep — use it if you have not chosen yet. These are fact quizzes about animals you already find interesting, and nothing you answer here changes what pet you are matched with.
Do I need to know the answers first?
No, and that is rather the point. Every question shows you the right answer the moment you tap, with a sentence explaining why, so a quiz you score badly on teaches you more than one you ace. Most people learn the animal by getting it wrong once.
How do the badges work?
Each quiz remembers your best score on your own device — nothing is sent anywhere and there is no sign-up. Score full marks and the quiz is marked mastered with a gold trophy. Your progress bar counts how many of the 75 you have mastered so far.
Are the wild animals pets?
No, and the quizzes say so. Lions, orcas, pandas and the rest are here because they are fascinating, not because anyone should keep one. If you are looking for an animal to actually live with, the pet quiz is the page you want.
