The part people underestimate
That they are not a handling animal, despite being sold as an easy beginner lizard. Anoles are fast, easily stressed, and their tails can detach when grabbed. Households expecting a small, tame lizard get a frustrated child and a stressed animal. Set the tank up as something to look into, not something to reach into, and everyone is happier.
Who an anole suits — and who it does not
Right for you if you want a planted, humid, vertical tank that looks alive, you enjoy watching natural behaviour, and a few years is a commitment length that suits your household.
Probably not if handling is the point — a leopard gecko or a blue-tongued skink suits that far better — or if the correct lighting and humidity feel like more equipment than you want to run for a small animal.
