Each square is a button. Arrow keys move. Space marks a cross, Enter places a pet, Backspace clears. Tap once for a cross, twice quickly for a pet, or drag to cross out many squares.
How to play Paws Apart
Every pet on the board needs its own space. Place exactly one pet in every row, every column and every colored pen — and pets can't touch each other, not even at the corners. Each puzzle has exactly one answer, and you can always find it by thinking it through. No guessing needed!
- Tap once to cross out a square where a pet can't go. Tap twice quickly to place a pet (or switch the tap button to 🐾).
- Drag across squares to cross out lots at once. Start the drag on a ✕ to erase instead.
- Auto ✕ crosses out every square your pets block, so you can see what's left.
- Stuck? 💡 Hint shows you the next clever trick and explains why it works. Tap it again and it does the move for you.
Daily Puzzle, badges and the Pet Album
Everyone gets the same Daily Puzzle, so you can race your friends (and the leaderboard!) and build a streak. Pick any board from a tiny 5×5 Hamster Hutch up to a 10×10 Big Barnyard, on Easy, Medium or Hard. Every puzzle you solve brings a new pet into your Pet Album, with a real fact and a link to learn all about it. There are 50 pets and 24 badges to collect.
